One of my favorite artists from the east coast. Born in Harlem, NY as Sean Pompey, but goes by his stage name Smoke DZA, is one of many artists who has a very consistent background for dropping numerous projects. In an interview with “No Jumper”, he was asked what kept him inspired in making music he said, “I stayed consistent by being myself”. He also spoke about how going on his first tour helped him with his performance “First time on tour I was with Curren$y and K.R.I.T. These guys are very respected in the hip hop industry and being around these guys helped with my performance. I wasn’t watching as a fan I was learning”.

It was the summer of 2013 when Curren$y and DZA did their first project together in Time Square recording studio with producer “Harry Fraud” recording “The Stage EP.” That was the first time I ever heard DZA rap on any tracks. Due to his consistent background, DZA appeared on a lot of features with Curren$y, K.R.I.T, Dom Kennedy, Joey Bada$$, and more. But he made it clear in an interview that he’s more than just a weed rapper “I love weed but that’s not the main focus in my raps. If you hear me out you will notice I go beyond just weed”. Before exiting his interview he left by saying “It’s all about Legacy. I never cared about being on the radio I just wanted to do what I love and work with some of the best artists in the industry”. DZA recently dropped a collab with Curren$y last year in November called “Prestige Worldwide” but down below are some of my favorite projects.

“Not For Sale” 2018

“Dream Zone Achieved” 2014

“Rolling Stoned” 2011

“Don’t smoke Rock” collaboration with Pete Rock 2016

“George Kush Da Button” 2010
