I remember seeing the one person that inspired me, basketball player and icon Allen Iverson. But for tattoo artist Steve Wiebe it was all a dream until it turned into a reality. Born in Abbotsford, B.C. (Canada), Wiebe was just a kid who is a fan of basketball, hockey, and drawing. He decided to do one year at a junior college playing basketball. Then he wanted to be a kitchen cabinet maker. In the year of 2008, Wiebe wanted to get into the tattoo industry, pursuing something that he loves and enjoys. The person that inspired him was Allen Iverson. He got a job at a tattoo shop, learning a different set of skills that he can use for his creative ideas. Shortly after getting better with his craft, he started to gain recognition due to his hard work paying off.

The first celebrity that helped give Wiebe his break was Dorrell Wright in 2014. Wright came across his work on Instagram and loved what he saw. He mentioned in an article with “The Undefeated” how Wiebe was taken by Kevin Durant and Deandre Jordan “He was kidnapped from me which left me with some unfinished work,” he said, but did mention at the time he wasn’t ready for the pain. Durant and Jordan started to grow close with the artist, not because of his work more of his personality. Both players had a lot of great things to say about the artist. Jordan mentioned, “He has a hectic schedule, but he cares. I know this person cares about his art, and I want to make it happen for him. He is family”. Durant also mentioned, “I didn’t have him on the road because he’s a tattoo artist. We like hanging around him just as much as he liked being around us. It’s been an easy relationship”. Since then, Wiebe has made plenty of other friends in league with his creativeness and personality. Wiebe’s biggest dream is to tattoo Allen Iverson one day; he said, “That’s the first name that comes to mind. But I understand the older you get, the more that Sh%t hurts so he may not even want any more tattoos”. Down below are some athletes and artists that Wiebe has done work for since being recognized.
